Kolmogorov complexity and Hausdorff dimension

open access: yesInformation and Computation, 1989
This interesting note develops several formal relationships between program-size complexity of infinite strings and various measures of information content. The idea is to bound the complexity of a maximally complex string in a prescribed set of strings by the Hausdorff dimension as well as the entropy of that set.

Kolmogorov Complexity as a Language [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The notion of Kolmogorov complexity (=the minimal length of a program that generates some object) is often useful as a kind of language that allows us to reformulate some notions and therefore provide new intuition. In this survey we provide (with minimal comments) many different examples where notions and statements that involve Kolmogorov complexity ...

Distinct Immunomodulatory Strategies Guide Mesenchymal Stromal/Stem Cell‐Mediated Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone regeneration by mesenchymal stem cells is strongly influenced by immune signals. This study shows that priming stem cells with regulatory immune cells or an inflammation‐resolving lipid molecule enhances bone formation through distinct immune pathways.

Randomness Representation of Turbulence in Canopy Flows Using Kolmogorov Complexity Measures

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Turbulence is often expressed in terms of either irregular or random fluid flows, without quantification. In this paper, a methodology to evaluate the randomness of the turbulence using measures based on the Kolmogorov complexity (KC) is proposed.

Busy Beavers and Kolmogorov Complexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The idea to find the "maximal number that can be named" can be traced back to Archimedes (see his Psammit). From the viewpoint of computation theory the natural question is "which number can be described by at most n bits"? This question led to the definition of the so-called "busy beaver" numbers (introduced by T. Rado).

Targeting WTAP/ROR1/WNT5A‐Mediated Crosstalk Between Glioma Stem Cells and Macrophages to Normalize Tumor Vasculature and Enhance Chemotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In hypoxic microenvironment, WNT5A is predominantly secreted by tumor‐associated macrophages. Hypoxia‐induced WTAP mediates ROR1 stability by m6A modifications in a HuR‐dependent manner in Glioma stem cells (GSCs). WNT5A activates the WNT pathway via ROR1 binding on GSCs, driving glioma‐derived endothelial cells (GDECs) differentiation.

Information in complex physical systems: Kolmogorov complexity plane of interacting amplitudes

open access: yesPhysics of Complex Systems
One of the most challenging tasks in studying complex physical systems is determining the contributions of complexities of individual components to the complexity of the entire system.

Gravity‐Tolerant In‐Flight 3D Bioprinting Enabled by Stereolithography for Space Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flight‐compliant, closed stereolithographic 3D bioprinting system enables robust fabrication of acellular and cell‐laden hydrogel constructs under varying gravitational conditions, including microgravity and hypergravity phases. Printed structures retain dimensional fidelity and high‐resolution features, while cell viability remains high ...
