Content and distribution of cyanogenic compounds in cassava roots and leaves in association with physiological age

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 104, Issue 8, Page 4851-4859, June 2024.
Abstract Background Cassava roots are widely consumed in tropical regions of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Although the protein, vitamin, carotenoid, and mineral content in the leaves makes them a nutritionally attractive option, their consumption is limited due to their high levels of cyanogenic compounds (CCs).

Rapid analysis of hydrogen cyanide in fresh cassava roots using NIRSand machine learning algorithms: Meeting end user demand for low cyanogenic cassava

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 17, Issue 2, June 2024.
Abstract This study focuses on meeting end‐users’ demand for cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) varieties with low cyanogenic potential (hydrogen cyanide potential [HCN]) by using near‐infrared spectrometry (NIRS). This technology provides a fast, accurate, and reliable way to determine sample constituents with minimal sample preparation.
