On Studies of Preparation of Kraft Pulp

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1961
Using the laboratory Valley beater, the following results were obtained.1) When the beating load was constant, the beating with the high peripheral speed of beater roll required the fairly lower freeness than it of the pulp beaten with the low peripheral speed of the roll to attain the constant ratio of tearing strength to bursting strength of paper ...

Sulfuric acid bleaching of kraft pulp 1: Bleaching of hardwood and softwood kraft pulps

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 1999
To develop a new nonchlorine bleaching technology, hardwood and softwood kraft pulps, before and after oxygen-alkali predelignification, were treated with dilute sulfuric acid solutions (pH 1.0-1.8) at 100°C for 1 h and then extracted with aqueous sodium hydroxide at 70°C for l h. Hardwood kraft pulp was successfully bleached.

Surface Morphology and Structural Organization Effects in Cellulose Nanofibril Papers for Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesSmartSys, Volume 2, Issue 3, September 2026.
Cellulose nanofibril papers are engineered to tune surface smoothness and structural organization for triboelectric nanogenerators. Reduced surface roughness improves effective contact and charge transfer, while structural modulation enhances triboelectric performance.

Recent Developments in Electrochemical Lignin Depolymerization Using Flow Systems: A Mini Review

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 August 2026.
This review summarizes the current state of the electrochemical depolymerization of lignin focusing on studies performed in flow cells. Three anodic strategies are distinguished: oxygen evolution reaction substitution for energy‐efficient hydrogen generation, nonselective oligomer production, and selective aromatic monomer synthesis, such as vanillin ...

Acid Sulfite Pulping of Hemp: Effects of Processing Conditions on Lyocell Pulp Quality

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 16, Page 3364-3381, 15 August 2026.
Industrial hemp is emerging as a promising renewable source for next‐generation textile fibers. This study evaluates whether acid sulfite pulping can produce hemp‐based dissolving pulp suitable for lyocell manufacturing. While the process is historically linked to increased cellulose accessibility, it did not achieve the low lignin content and ...

Unraveling the Role of Lignin Oligomers Functionality for the Synthesis of Nonisocyanate Polyurethanes

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
This study reports the synthesis of bio‐based nonisocyanate polyhydroxyurethanes from crude lignins and depolymerized lignin oligomers. The structure–properties relationships were largely explored and highlighted the key role of lignin functionality on the physical properties of the materials. Lignins are the main source of aromatic compounds in nature.
