Sulfuric acid bleaching of kraft pulp 1: Bleaching of hardwood and softwood kraft pulps

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 1999
To develop a new nonchlorine bleaching technology, hardwood and softwood kraft pulps, before and after oxygen-alkali predelignification, were treated with dilute sulfuric acid solutions (pH 1.0-1.8) at 100°C for 1 h and then extracted with aqueous sodium hydroxide at 70°C for l h. Hardwood kraft pulp was successfully bleached.

Valorization of Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) peel for peroxidase production and its immobilization on alginate beads for 2,4‐dichlorophenol bioconversion

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 8, Page 3984-3995, August 2026.
Sodium alginate was modified with EDC/NHS for the immobilization of Yacon peel peroxidase, resulting in a novel biocatalyst for the oxidation of 2,4‐dichlorophenol. Abstract Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) roots are emerging as an alternative source of peroxidase. This study aimed to extract, immobilize, and characterize the peroxidase from Yacon peel,

Research on silicon removal with oxides addition in kraft pulping of bamboo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
High silica content of bamboo results in a silica problem during the chemical recovery process. The lime mud of bamboo cannot be reused after the causticization process due to its high silica content. Therefore, it was discharged as solid waste. To solve

Nitric Acid-Alkali Two-stage Pulping of Wheat Straw, Industrial Hemp, and Miscanthus x giganteus

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Index levels of the process of pulping wheat straw (WS), industrial hemp stalks (HS), and Miscanthus x giganteus (MS) using the nitric acid-alkali (NA-A) method (HNO3/KOH and HNO3/NH4OH two-stage sequential delignification systems) were determined.

From Viscose to Lyocell‐Type Fibers: Chemical Recycling of Viscose and Modal Fibers Using the Ioncell Process

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Using the Ioncell process, the recycling of low DP textile waste via four case studies, white, blue, and black viscose and white modal fibers, was investigated. The most common man‐made cellulose fiber (MMCF) is viscose, a low DP material made of plant‐based cellulose, and it accounts for less than 6% of the total amount of textile fibers.

An heterogeneous model for eucalyptus kraft pulping. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Nas indústrias de celulose, o processo dominante é a polpação Kraft. A polpação ou o cozimento de madeira em digestores constitui a operação central da produção de celulose, onde se processam as reações de deslignificação dos cavacos de madeira. Em geral,
