Comparative Anatomy of Maize and its Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management, 2011
The present study reveals that there are large variations in anatomy of maize genotypes, which help in selecting drought tolerance lines, stem borer resistant as in tropical region.

Afrosalsola (Amaranthaceae-Chenopodiaceae), an intermediate C3-C4 lineage from NW Africa and the Canary Islands, and some new combinations in African species of Caroxylon and Soda

open access: yesMediterranean Botany
The segregation of the polyphyletic genus Salsola (Amaranthaceae-Chenopodiaceae) caused enormous nomenclatural changes during the last two decades. A lineage, that is still awaiting to be validated by a new valid name comprises four interesting taxa ...

Intracellular position of mitochondria and chloroplasts in bundle sheath and mesophyll cells of C3 grasses in relation to photorespiratory CO2 loss

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2016
In C3 plants, photosynthetic efficiency is reduced by photorespiration. A part of CO2 fixed during photosynthesis in chloroplasts is lost from mitochondria during photorespiration by decarboxylation of glycine by glycine decarboxylase (GDC).

An Auxin-ABA Signaling Nexus Orchestrates C4 Kranz Anatomy and Water Use Efficiency.

open access: yes
C4 photosynthesis represents a remarkable evolutionary adaptation for enhanced productivity and water use efficiency (WUE) in warm, arid environments. Central to this efficiency is the specialized leaf architecture known as Kranz anatomy, characterized by distinct bundles of mesophyll and bundle sheath cells that facilitate the spatial separation of ...
