Agent‐Based Computational Modeling of the Stochastic Dynamic Behavior of Actin Filaments Recapitulates the Homeostatic Cortical Array in Plant Epidermal Cells

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The homeostatic cortical actin array in plant cells plays important roles in fundamental processes, including intracellular transport, secretion, cell expansion, and cytoplasmic streaming. In response to diverse chemical and mechanical signals, the cortical array can remodel within minutes to assume new configurations or altered filament ...

Self‐Similar Blowup for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We give a rigorous proof for the existence of a finite‐energy, self‐similar solution to the focusing cubic Schrödinger equation in three spatial dimensions. The proof is computer‐assisted and relies on a fixed point argument that shows the existence of a solution in the vicinity of a numerically constructed approximation.

Generalized Chemical Model for Warm Dense Hydrogen: Ionization Potential Depression and Molecular Dissociation Shifts

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Warm dense matter (WDM) is a complex state, where quantum effects, thermal excitations, and strong interparticle correlations coexist. Understanding its microscopic composition and medium‐induced modifications of atomic and molecular properties is essential for planetary modeling, fusion research, and high‐energy‐density experiments.

Experimental and constitutive modeling investigations on marble in Jinping Underground Laboratory

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The objective of this study is to reveal the underlying mechanisms behind the brittle‐ductile transition of the marble through a combination of experimental research and constitutive modeling. A series of triaxial compression and triaxial cyclic loading tests are conducted.

Global reduction to the Kronecker canonical form of a Cr-family of time-invariant linear systems

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2002
We present a geometric approach to the study of time-invariant systems, represented by quadruples of matrices (A, B, C, D). Our main goal is, given a differentiable family of such quadruples having constant Kronecker type, the obtention of a differentiable family of nonsingular matrices such that pointwise reduces each quadruple to its Kronecker ...

Creep properties and constitutive model of diabase in deep water conveyance tunnels

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The axial and lateral creep characteristics of diabase were analyzed based on compression creep tests. The nonlinear viscoelastic‐plastic model capable of describing the whole creep process was established based on the fractional derivative and damage theories.

A study of chevron type plate design on pressure drop and friction factor of brazed plate heat exchanger

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract Brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) was analyzed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations by ANSYS Fluent to investigate the chevron‐patterned plates. The influence of geometric parameters, including corrugation pitch, depth, and angle was analyzed.

A Multivariate Mixed‐Effects Regression Framework for Ground Motion Modeling: Integrating Parametric and Machine Learning Approaches

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multivariate ground motion models (GMMs) that capture the correlation between different intensity measures (IMs) are essential for seismic risk assessment. Conventional GMMs are often developed using a two‐stage approach, where separate univariate models with predefined functional forms are fitted first, and correlation is addressed in a ...

Invariants, Kronecker Products, and Combinatorics of Some Remarkable Diophantine Systems (Extended Version)

open access: yes, 2008
This work lies across three areas (in the title) of investigation that are by themselves of independent interest. A problem that arose in quantum computing led us to a link that tied these areas together. This link consists of a single formal power series with a multifaced interpretation.

The invariant polynomials degrees of the Kronecker sum of two linear operators and additive theory

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2000
Let \(A\), \(B\) be finite nonempty subsets of a field \(\mathbb{F}\). Write \(A+ B=\{a+b: a\in A, b\in B\}\) and denote by \(\mu_i= \mu_i(A,B)\) \((i= 1,2,\dots)\) the number of elements of \(A+B\) that can be represented in the form \(a+b\) in at least \(i\) ways.
