Interannual Variability of Summertime Sea Fog Over North Pacific
Abstract The mid‐latitude North Pacific exhibits a sea fog frequency of 20%–40% in the summer (June–August). Here, we show that the interannual variability of the summer sea fog over the mid‐latitude North Pacific region is correlated with the Asian‐Pacific Oscillation (APO) driven by the seasonal heating of the Tibetan Plateau.

Abstract This study reveals different slip patterns of tsunami sources between two prehistoric giant earthquakes along the southern Kuril Trench, based on an integration of geological data and numerical simulations. The most recent giant earthquake occurred in the 17th century and its predecessor was in the 13th–14th century.

Triglops dorothy, a new species of sculpin (Teleostei: Scorpaeniformes: Cottidae) from the southern Sea of Okhotsk [PDF]
A new species of the cottid genus Triglops Reinhardt is described on the basis of 21 specimens collected in Aniva Bay, southern Sakhalin Island, Russia, and off Kitami, on the northern coast of Hokkaido, Japan, at depths of 73–117 m.
