Vibrational spectra of l-arginine tetrafluoroborate and l-arginine perchlorate
Vibrational Spectroscopy, 2006Abstract Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR ATR) and Fourier transform Raman spectra of l -arginine tetrafluoroborate ( l -Arg.HBF 4 ) and l -arginine perchlorate ( l -Arg.HClO 4 ) crystals are reported and discussed. The FT-IR ATR spectrum of l -Arg.HClO 4 is in agreement with previously published FT-IR KBr pellet ...

Preparation of NG-monoethyl-l-arginine
Analytical Biochemistry, 1984NG-Monoethyl-L-arginine, a putative in vivo product after administration of the potent hepatocarcinogen L-ethionine to rats, has been chemically synthesized by coupling N-ethyl, S- methylthiopseudouronium iodide with alpha-amino-blocked L-ornithine. The structure of the compound as NG-monoethyl-L-arginine was confirmed by 13C NMR.

L-Arginine as an Antihypertensive Agent
Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1992L-Arginine, the precursor of endothelium-derived relaxing factor (EDRF)/nitric oxide (NO), was administered intravenously in five patients with essential hypertension, one with renovascular hypertension, one with primary aldosteronism, and one with Cushing's syndrome. During the administration, the mean arterial pressure decreased concomitantly with an

The crystal structure of l-arginine
Chemical Communications, 2012We report the crystal structure of L-arginine, one of the last remaining natural amino acids for which the crystal structure has never been determined; structure determination was carried out directly from powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data, exploiting the direct-space genetic algorithm technique for structure solution followed by Rietveld refinement.

The L-Arginine-Nitric Oxide Pathway
New England Journal of Medicine, 1993The discovery that mammalian cells generate nitric oxide, a gas previously considered to be merely an atmospheric pollutant, is providing important information about many biologic processes. Nitric oxide is synthesized from the amino acid L-arginine by a family of enzymes, the nitric oxide synthases, through a hitherto unrecognized metabolic route ...

L-Arginine stimulates growth hormone (GH) release from the anterior pituitary gland. Following administration, L-arginine causes elevation of serum GH levels, measurements of which serve as a test of anterior pituitary function.
