The neurobiology of acetyl-L-carnitine

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience, 2016
A large body of evidence points to the positive effects of dietary supplementation of acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC). Its use has shown health benefits in neuroinflammation, which is a common denominator in a host of neurodegenerative diseases. ALC is the principal acetyl ester of L-Carnitine (LC), and it plays an essential role in intermediary metabolism ...

Gabapentinoids‐duloxetine combination therapy for chronic pain: A mechanism oriented rational to bridge theoretical knowledge and real life setting

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Chronic pain represents a complex debilitating condition that extends beyond the protective function of physiological pain, often persisting as an independent disease entity. Chronic primary and secondary pain syndromes reflect a multifaceted continuum involving nociceptive, neuropathic and nociplastic mechanisms.

Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum organelle glue as maturation promoter for origination/dimensional dual‐cross cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum contact sites (MERCS) are areas where the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum closely interact. In this study, we utilize synthetic organelle glues to artificially engineer MERCS for regulating cardiomyocyte development, through which the immature and chemo‐plasticity issues of undifferentiated cells are addressed.

Oocyte–cumulus cell interaction: a key factor in early embryo development

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The evaluation of oocyte competence is a fundamental step in achieving successful outcomes following assisted reproduction techniques (ART). At present, however, conventional oocyte maturation assessment is carried out by morphological observation, which is a subjective method that does not consider molecular features.

Impaired healing following implant placement surgery: A case report of a modern‐day manifestation of scurvy

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Delayed wound healing following implant placement surgery is an uncommon complication, usually attributed to systemic (smoking and alcohol), local (severely inflamed tissues), or technical (poor suturing) factors. However, delayed wound healing after implant placement caused by severe hypovitaminosis C has not been previously ...

The antidiabetic effect of L-carnitine in rats: the role of nitric oxide system

open access: yesFiyz̤, 2017
Background: Nowadays, the use of L-carnitine in the treatment of diabetes is increasing. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of co-administration of L-arginine (precursor for the synthesis of nitric oxide) and nitro-L-arginine (nitric ...

Effects of chito-oligosaccharides and L-carnitine supplementation in diets for Japanese quails on performance, carcass traits and some blood parameters

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2015
The aim of this study was to determine effects of dietary supplementation with chitosanoligosaccharides (COS) and L-carnitine, individually or dually, on growth performance, carcass traits and some blood serum parameters in quails.

Buried Interface Engineering via a Bifunctional Guanidino‐Carboxyl Molecular Bridge for Enhanced Performance and Stability in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A bifunctional molecular bridge using 4‐guanidinobutanoic acid (GCC) is constructed to comprehensively tailor the buried interface of PSCs. By passivating oxygen vacancies, optimizing energy‐level matching, and regulating perovskite crystallization, this strategy simultaneously boosts the power conversion efficiency to 25.37% (20.01% for 13.4 cm2) and ...
