Ordering intermetallic alloys by ion irradiation: a way to tailor magnetic media
Combining He ion irradiation and thermal mobility below 600K, we both trigger and control the transformation from chemical disorder to order in thin films of an intermetallic ferromagnet (FePd).

Phase formation in L10 magnets
Structural and magnetic properties of substituted L10 compounds are investigated. Focus is on L10 structures of the general type ABC2, where each second layer of the original structure is replaced by a checkerboard of A and B atoms. At low temperatures, L10 compounds with ABC2 stoichiometry will segregate into AC and AB L10 phases, forming an ordered ...

Abstract The sedimentary succession at Whittlesey preserves a unique British late Middle Pleistocene to Holocene record back to a time equivalent to at least marine oxygen isotope stage 8 (ca. 250 ka). This study builds on previously published sedimentology, geochronology and palaeoecology results to establish 20 sedimentary facies associations, with ...

Preparation of c-axis perpendicularly oriented ultra-thin L10-FePt films on MgO and VN underlayers
Ultra-thin L10-FePt films of 2 nm average thickness are prepared on (001) oriented MgO and VN underlayers epitaxially grown on base substrate of SrTiO3(001) single crystal.

A Controllability Investigation of Magnetic Properties for FePt Alloy Nanocomposite Thin Films
An appropriate writing field is very important for magnetic storage application of L10 FePt nanocomposite thin films. However, the applications of pure L10 FePt are limited due to its large coercivity.

Configurations of Extremal Even Unimodular Lattices
We extend the results of Ozeki on the configurations of extremal even unimodular lattices. Specifically, we show that if L is such a lattice of rank 56, 72, or 96, then L is generated by its minimal-norm vectors.Comment: 8 pages. To appear, International

Magnetization reversal in particulate L10 nanostructures
Abstract Magnetization processes in particulate L1 0 FePt nanostructures are investigated by model calculations and numerical simulations. The systems considered include anisotropic nanograins embedded in non-magnetic matrix; randomly oriented nanoclusters embedded in a C matrix, and nanocomposites of FePt particles in a semi-hard matrix.

Ab initio study of magnetocrystalline anisotropy, magnetostriction, and Fermi surface of L10 FeNi (tetrataenite) [PDF]
We present results of ab initio calculations of several L10 FeNi characteristics, such as the summary of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energies (MAEs), the full potential calculations of the anisotropy constant K3, and the combined analysis of the ...

Abstract Background Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) is a widely cultivated vegetable and aromatic‐medicinal plant. In this research, field studies assessed 12 fennel genotypes of diverse origin, comprising 10 Greek accessions and two European commercial varieties, focusing on their morpho‐agronomical traits, phenolic compounds and antioxidant ...

Magnetic properties and structure of Gd-implanted L10 FePt thin films
In this study, we have investigated the effect of Gd implantation on composition, chemical order, and magnetic properties of 20 nm thick L10 ordered FePt thin films. We show that upon Gd implantation at 30 keV even a small amount of 1 at. % is sufficient
