Hunting strategies, success, and sustainability: A case study in a community forest on the edge of Salonga National Park, DRC

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 2, April/June 2026.
In Central Africa, traditional hunting is central to the way of life of local communities. However, increasing demand for wild meat has raised concerns about the sustainability of this practice. With a year‐long analysis of hunting strategies and their impact at the outskirts of Salonga National Park, Democratic Republic of the Congo, we showed a ...

Gevrey Smoothing Effect for Solutions of the Non-Cutoff Boltzmann Equation in Maxwellian Molecules Case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we study the Gevrey regularity for the weak solutions to the Cauchy problem of the non-cutoff spatially homogeneous Botlzmann equation for the Maxwellian molecules model with the singularity exponent $s\in (0,1)$. We establish that any weak

Inertial forces in the Casimir effect with two moving plates

open access: yes, 2002
We combine linear response theory and dimensional regularization in order to derive the dynamical Casimir force in the low frequency regime. We consider two parallel plates moving along the normal direction in $D-$dimensional space.

Spatial Control Over Tether‐Tunable Coordination on Palladium for Divergent Synthesis of Bicyclo[n.1.0]alkanes via Oxidative Cyclopropanation of Enynes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
We have developed a Pd‐catalyzed oxidative cyclopropanation of 1,n‐enynes employing cyclic diacyl peroxides as bifunctional reagents that serve as both tether‐tunable oxidants and spatially controlled dicarboxylate anions. ABSTRACT Bicyclo[n.1.0]alkanes are highly valuable scaffolds in drug discovery and synthetic chemistry.

Bovine Epithelial in vitro Infection Models for Mycoplasma bovis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2018
Mycoplasma bovis causes bovine mycoplasmosis. The major clinical manifestations are pneumonia and mastitis. Recently an increase in the severity of mastitis cases was reported in Switzerland.

Dissimilarities of reduced density matrices and eigenstate thermalization hypothesis

open access: yes, 2017
We calculate various quantities that characterize the dissimilarity of reduced density matrices for a short interval of length $\ell$ in a two-dimensional (2D) large central charge conformal field theory (CFT).

Tunable Magnetoelectric Fluxguide Cancels Power Nulls in WPT Systems With Highly Misaligned Coils

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
This article presents a tunable smart fluxguide made from a magnetoelectric composite to enhance positioning freedom and maintain coupling in wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. It actively distributes the magnetic field and enables to overcome unavoidable zero‐charge areas, known as “powernulls.” However, redistributing the magnetic field can ...

Tn‐seq of Thermus thermophilus Genome Reveals Unexpected Tolerance to Insertions in Bacterial Common Essential Genes

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
Tn‐seq analysis of Thermus thermophilus genome reveals insertions in almost all genes, this is, there is no clear discrimination of essential genes. A similar result has not been reported in other Tn‐seq analysis of bacterial genomes so far. The polyploidy of the Thermus genome could explain the apparent non‐essentiality of key genes.

Resistance to Quinupristin-Dalfopristin Due to Mutation of L22 Ribosomal Protein inStaphylococcus aureus [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2002
ABSTRACTThe mechanism of resistance to the streptogramin antibiotics quinupristin and dalfopristin was studied in aStaphylococcus aureusclinical isolate selected under quinupristin-dalfopristin therapy, in four derivatives ofS. aureusRN4220 selected in vitro, and in a mutant selected in a model of rabbit aortic endocarditis. For all strains the MICs of

Exploring the Spatiotemporal Carbon Fluxes in a Typical Subtropical Shallow Lake Using a Modified LAKE Model

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Lakes are an important type of surface water body, while their carbon emissions and the underlain mechanisms that potentially vary among different lakes remain highly uncertain. In this study, we modified the LAKE model and successfully applied it, along with multiple complementary machine learning methods, to Taihu Lake, a typical subtropical
