Laccase activity and putative laccase genes in marine-derived basidiomycetes
Fungal Biology, 2010Studies of laccases from marine-derived fungi are limited. In the present work, putative laccase genes from three marine-derived basidiomycetes and their laccase activities were evaluated. High amounts of laccase were produced by the fungal strains Marasmiellus sp. CBMAI 1062 (971.2UL⁻¹) and Peniophora sp.

Laccases from Aureobasidium pullulans
Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2013Laccases are polyphenol oxidases (EC 1.10.3.2) that have numerous industrial and bioremediation applications. Laccases are well known as lignin-degrading enzymes, but these enzymes can play numerous other roles in fungi. In this study, 41 strains of the fungus Aureobasidium pullulans were examined for laccase production. Enzymes from A.

Thermotolerant and thermostable laccases
Biotechnology Letters, 2009Laccases are phenol-oxidizing, usually four-copper containing metalloenzymes. For industrial and biotechnological purposes, laccases were among the first fungal oxidoreductases providing larger-scale applications such as removal of polyphenols in wine and beverages, conversion of toxic compounds and textile dyes in waste waters, and in bleaching and ...

Antioxidants determination with laccase
Talanta, 2007The spectrophotometric method of antioxidants determination using recombinant laccase Polyporus pinsitus (rPpL) and Myceliophthora thermophila (rMtL) was developed. The method includes simultaneous oxidation of the antioxidant and high reactive laccase substrate producing chromophoric radical cation.

Laccases: a never-ending story
Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, 2009Laccases (benzenediol:oxygen oxidoreductases, EC 1.10.3.2) are blue multicopper oxidases that catalyze the oxidation of an array of aromatic substrates concomitantly with the reduction of molecular oxygen to water. In fungi, laccases carry out a variety of physiological roles during their life cycle. These enzymes are being increasingly evaluated for a

Laccase‐Catalyzed Dimerization of Hydroxystilbenes
Advanced Synthesis & Catalysis, 2007AbstractA series of hydroxystilbenes, analogues of the bioactive phytoalexin resveratrol, were synthesized and submitted to the catalytic action of a laccase from Trametes pubescens in a biphasic system made of ethyl acetate and acetate buffer. Oxidation took place at the 4′‐hydroxy (4‐hydroxy) position of the hydroxystilbenic moieties, followed by ...

Laccases: structure, reactions, distribution
Micron, 2004Laccases (EC 1.10.3.2, p-diphenol: dioxygen oxidoreductases) are multi-copper proteins that use molecular oxygen to oxidize various aromatic and non-aromatic compounds by a radical-catalyzed reaction mechanism. The enzymes are involved in the pathogenicity, immunity and morphogenesis of organisms and in the metabolic turnover of complex organic ...

Abstract The presence of a typical laccase is demonstrated in the cavities of the secretory ducts of a number of species of the Anacardiaceae, including Mangifera indica and Schinus molle . In addition mango fruit contains catechol oxidase. The presence of laccase may be of chemotaxonomic value.
