Steroidal lactam quinoxalines, lactam indoles, and lactam thiazoles

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 1987
Steroidal lactams have been reported to possess unusual anticancer activity ( I , 2). On the other hand, steroidal quinoxaline, indole, and thiazole derivatives present biological action (3). I t was of interest to combine these three heterocyclic nuclei to the steroid lactam and to study their biological activity.

POLYMERIZABILITY OF LACTAMS

Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1976
Abstract The ability of lactams to undergo ring-opening polymerization largely depends on the ring size, substitution and presence of heteroatoms in the lactam ring. The heat of polymerization varies with ring size from practically zero up to 20 kcal/mol. Also the entropy of polymerization can vary in a much broader range than for, e.g.

Oxidizability of lactams and lactam‐based polyamides

Die Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie, 1997
AbstractIn the chain oxidation of N‐alkylamides with molecular oxygen, propagation is the ratedetermining step under conditions when the oxidation rate is independent of oxygen pressure. The oxidizability of lactams and lactam‐based polyamides correlates with the energy of the formation of N‐alkylamide radical by abstraction of hydrogen from the ...

γ-Lactam analogues of monocyclic β-lactam antibiotics

Tetrahedron Letters, 1987
Abstract γ-Lactam analogues of monocyclic β-lactam antibiotics, the oxamazins, have been prepared from N-protected γ-nitro-α-amino acid esters. Unlike the oxamazins, these higher homologues are devoid of biological activity.

Cationic polymerization and copolymerization of lactams and lactam derivatives

Makromolekulare Chemie. Macromolecular Symposia, 1988
AbstractLactams and lactam derivatives may be polymerized by various types of processes, but only the cationic mechanisms provide suitable pathways for the polymerization of all types of lactam monomers. Therefore, the cationic polymerization is predestinated for the synthesis of their copolymers.

Lactones and lactams Communication 25. Allyl thio lactams

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1965
1. A method was developed for the synthesis of N-allyl thio lactams by the reaction of N-allyl lactams with phosphorus pentasulfide. 1-Allyl-2-pyrrolidinethione, 1-allyl-2-piperidinethione, and N-allylthiocaprolactam were prepared. 2. By the action of allyl bromide on the sodium salts of 2-pyrrolidinethione and thiocaprolactam, the ...

Non-ß-lactam mimics of ß-lactam antibiotics

1992
The β-lactam antibiotics are represented by a diverse array of chemical structural types. These include cephalosporins, cephamycins, oxa- and carbacephems, penicillins, penems, carbapenems and monobactams. In spite of this chemical diversity the β-lactam moiety present in each is capable of acylating the penicillin binding proteins (PBPs) thus ...
