Lactational Performance of Manipuri Women

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Medical Association, 2003
A study was conducted to measure the volume of breast milk output of 26 lactating women and to estimatethe period of its adequacy as the sole food for the infants. Child-mother pairs were selected on voluntarybasis from amongst mothers who delivered in the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Imphal,Manipur (India).

Associations of growth rates during the first 2 months of life with feeding behavior, development, and first-lactation performance in Holstein heifers

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Early-life growth and development are crucial for the future performance of replacement heifers. Optimizing growth enhances immediate performance and establishes the foundation for long-term productivity, improving overall efficiency in milk production.

Comparison of service period and lactation milk yields in dairy cows with single- and twin-calving [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinarski Glasnik, 2018
Introduction. Twin-calving occurs in 3 to 5 % of Holstein Friesian cattle, and it is mostly followed by reproductive and economic problems. This evaluation will compare the service period and the milk yield in cows with single and twin births at a ...

Lactational Performance of Various Mammalian Species

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1986
Lactational performance varies widely among mammalian species. Lactation plays a variable role in the overall reproductive strategy. The fraction of total growth and development of the young contributed by lactation is minimal in such species as guinea pigs but is a very high proportion in some marsupials and primates.

Effects of lameness at the time of drying off on the lactation and fertility performance of the following lactation [PDF]

open access: yesSchweiz Arch Tierheilkd, 2018
The aim of the study was to clarify how lameness and its severity in dairy cows at the time of drying off will affect the milk performance and fertility in the following lactation when treated appropriately at the time of drying off. The lameness scoring and a gait assessment took place during drying off, in the 1st week after calving, as well as 2 ...

Effects of α-Ketoglutarate Peripartum Supplementation on Reproductive, Lactational, Productive and Immunological Outcomes in Dairy Cows

open access: yesAnimals
In dairy cow, the peripartum metabolic stage is critical as may affect post-partum metabolic and reproductive recovery, colostrum quality, and overall reproductive fitness. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of varying doses of α-ketoglutarate (AKG)

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Effects of postbiotic products from Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation on lactation performance, antioxidant capacity, and blood immunity in transition dairy cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation with different types of Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation products (SCFP) on lactational performance, metabolism, acute phase protein response, and antioxidant capacity in dairy ...

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.
