Protein Energy Malnutrition: Opportunities for Cold Plasma Technologies
Protein energy malnutrition (PEM) is a major global health concern driven by biological, environmental, and nutritional factors, including gut microbiota imbalance and low protein intake. Cold atmospheric plasma technologies offer promising, sustainable solutions by improving food security, enhancing protein quality and absorption, and modulating gut ...

This study shows the protective effects of potential probiotic strain of Pediococci strains against diarrheal Escherichia coli strains in Caenorhabditis elegans model system. The E. coli strains resulted in severe morphological and physiological damage to the worm whereas the probiotic interventions were able to reduce these damages.

Nitrate from food is first converted to nitrite by oral bacteria and then further processed in the intestine. The gut microbiota reduces nitrate and nitrite to ammonia or nitric oxide, preventing the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines. Our analysis highlights Escherichia coli as a key player in this detoxification process, supported by other ...

Adaptation of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus CM MSU 529 to Aerobic Growth: A Proteomic Approach
The study describes the effect of aerobic conditions on the proteome of homofermentative lactic acid bacterium Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus CM MSU 529 grown in a batch culture. Aeration caused the induction of the biosynthesis of 43 proteins, while 14 proteins were downregulated as detected by label-free LC-MS/MS.

Bacterial Extracellular Vesicles in the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Liver Diseases
Liver diseases are a major global health challenge, with current treatments inadequate. This review highlights the role of bacterial extracellular vesicles in liver inflammation, fibrosis, and metabolism. We also explore these from commensals and probiotics, their protective effects, and discuss research challenges and future therapeutic potential ...

Isolation, Identification and Antibacterial Characteristics of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus YT
Pathogenic microorganisms have been detected in fermented food. Combining the enormous class of the pathogens and their continuously appearing mutants or novel species, it is important to select suitable and safe antibacterial agents for fermented food safety. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) which produce diverse imperative antimicrobial metabolites have an
