Characterization and application of postbiotics of Lactobacillus spp. on Listeria monocytogenes in vitro and in food models

LWT, 2019
Anti-listeria and functional characteristics of postbiotics (metabolic byproducts of probiotics) of Lactobacillus acidophilus LA5 and L. casei 431 and L. salivarius were investigated in vitro, and in ground meat and whole milk.

Plasmids in Lactobacillus

Critical Reviews in Biotechnology, 1997
This review describes Lactobacillus plasmids on distribution, structure, function, vector construction, vector stability, application, and prospective. About 38% of species of the genus Lactobacillus were found to contain plasmids with different sizes (from 1.2 to 150 kb) and varied numbers (1 or more). Some Lactobacillus plasmids with small sizes were

Lactobacillus protoplast transformation

Plasmid, 1987
A method for the transformation of Lactobacillus protoplasts by plasmid DNA is reported. The procedure involves polyethylene glycol treatment of protoplasts to induce DNA uptake. A transformation efficiency ranging from 5 to 1000 transformants per microgram of DNA is achieved; the efficiency of protoplast regeneration ranged from 10 to 20%.
