Stabilization of PUFA‐Rich Mayonnaise Against Lipid Oxidation: A Review of the Last Three Decades of Research

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, Volume 103, Issue 10, Page 1157-1177, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Mayonnaise, a widely consumed oil‐in‐water emulsion, is highly susceptible to lipid oxidation due to its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the presence of pro‐oxidant factors such as low pH and iron from egg yolk. Over the past three decades, extensive research has focused on understanding oxidation mechanisms, analytical

Enzyme‐Digested Edible Bird's Nest Promotes NGF‐Induced Differentiation of PC12 Cells by Activating the TrkA‐ERK1/2‐CREB‐BDNF Signaling Pathway

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
EBND alone upregulates neurofilament expression but does not induce neurite outgrowth in PC12 cells. With suboptimal NGF, EBND synergistically promotes neuronal differentiation via the TrkA‐ERK1/2‐CREB‐BDNF pathway. This effect is blocked by the TrkA inhibitor GW441756, confirming a TrkA‐dependent mechanism.

Hepatitis C virus envelope proteins bind lactoferrin

open access: yes, 1997
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) has two envelope proteins, E1 and E2, which form a heterooligomer. During dissection of interacting regions of HCV E1 and E2, we found the presence of an interfering compound or compounds in skim milk. Here we report that human as

Radioactive lysozyme deposition on rigid corneal lenses with or without use of a contact lens care solution

open access: yesOptometry and Vision Science, Volume 103, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the quantity of radioactive lysozyme deposited on various rigid corneal lenses, and the impact of using a care solution containing a surfactant. Methods Seven rigid corneal lens materials were investigated in this study.

Lactoferrin expression in human breast cancer.

open access: yes, 1999
We analyzed lactoferrin expression in 78 samples from patients with sporadic breast cancer and found 31/78 negative for mRNA expression. Similar results were obtained by immuno-histochemical localization of the lactoferrin protein.

Evaluation of Antimicrobial Activity of Lactoferrin against P.Aeruginosa and E.Coli Growth

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2016
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Lactoferrin(LF) is an iron-binding glycoprotein that involves a diverse range of biological activities. Lactoferrin is a major component of milk and is present in exocrine secretions such  as tears, salvia, bile, and neutrophil ...

Evaluation of ascitic lactoferrin as a diagnostic marker for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in patients with liver cirrhosis

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Internal Medicine
Background The optimal cut-off level of lactoferrin in ascitic fluid is debatable for identification of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). This study aimed to detect the cut-off level of lactoferrin in ascitic fluid and its role in the diagnosis of

Iron, Biofilm, and Colorectal Cancer: Mechanistic Insights Into Enterococcus faecalis Pathogenesis

open access: yesAPMIS, Volume 134, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Enterococcus faecalis is a commensal of the human gastrointestinal microbiota that has emerged as a successful opportunistic pathogen associated with persistent infections, antimicrobial resistance, and biofilm formation. Increasing evidence indicates that iron availability functions as a master environmental signal coordinating E.
