Lactulose as a food ingredient
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2009AbstractLactulose is a synthetic ketose disaccharide that can be obtained from lactose by different methods of synthesis. Chemical methods are based on the isomerization of lactose in the presence of basic catalysts and enzymatic methods using lactose as a galactose donor and fructose as an acceptor.

LACTULOSE IN VINCRISTINE‐INDUCED CONSTIPATION
Medical Journal of Australia, 1977Constipation which is resistant to the usual range of laxatives is a troublesome undesirable effect of vincristine. Lactulose in doses up to 25 ml thrice daily proved to be a simple and effective treatment in six patients with refractory vincristine-induced constipation, and a successful prophylactic in two other patients.

Effects of a Lactulose-Rich Diet on Fecal Microbiome and Metabolome in Pregnant Mice.
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2019Lactulose, a safe and beneficial molecule, can be used in food as a prebiotic and as an osmotic laxative during pregnancy. This work evaluated the effects of dietary lactulose on the gut microenvironment of pregnant mice using the fecal microbiota and ...

Solubility of lactulose trihydrate
Carbohydrate Research, 1994Lactulose (4-O-O-D-@aCtOpyranOSyl-D-fructose) was synthesized by Montgomery and Hudson [ 1] in 1930. Its physiological significance as a growth-promoting factor for Si$dobacterium (Bifidus Factor) was discovered by Petuely [ 21 in 1957. Bifidobacterium is a typically beneficial genus of the intestinal microflora and has useful functions for the host ...
