Improving Lagrange Dual Bounds for Quadratic Extremal Problems

open access: yesКібернетика та комп'ютерні технології, 2020
Introduction. Due to the fact that quadratic extremal problems are generally NP-hard, various convex relaxations to find bounds for their global extrema are used: Lagrangian relaxation, SDP-relaxation, SOCP-relaxation, LP-relaxation, and others.

Research on Hub Arc Location Problem with Unfixed Discounts in Hub-and-spoke Network Design [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2017
Previous researches on Hub Arc Location Problem(HALP) mostly adopt hub arcs with fixed discounts which cannot effectively deal with the situation that flows on hub arcs in the hub-and-spoke network have large differences. Therefore, this paper proposes a ...

A Unifying Approach to Self‐Organizing Systems Interacting via Conservation Laws

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The article develops a unified way to model and analyze self‐organizing systems whose interactions are constrained by conservation laws. It represents physical/biological/engineered networks as graphs and builds projection operators (from incidence/cycle structure) that enforce those constraints and decompose network variables into constrained versus ...

Accounting for animal health in efficiency analysis: An application to Swedish dairy farms

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Poor animal health is a central concern in modern livestock production. Despite the necessity to incorporate animal health in efficiency analysis, the theoretical and empirical developments are limited on this subject. This article appropriately characterizes the axiomatic properties of animal health within a production framework.

Review of CFD modelling techniques for single‐phase and multiphase flow in static mixers

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approaches for static mixers, linking hydrodynamics to pressure drop, particle/droplet distributions, mixing metrics, and heat‐transfer performance to guide modelling choices and design decisions. Abstract Static mixers enable compact and low‐energy intensification.

A Geometric Characterization of Steady Laminar Flow

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study the steady states of the Euler equations on the periodic channel or annulus. We show that if these flows are laminar (layered by closed non‐contractible streamlines which foliate the domain), then they must be either parallel or circular flows.

The Seepage Characteristics of Single Rough Joint of Granite Based on NMR Technology: A Modified Cubic Law

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The low‐field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements are applied to investigate the seepage characteristics of the single rough joint. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the seepage characteristics of granite specimens with single‐joint channel under the different roughness, confining pressures and seepage pressures.

A Memetic Lagrangian Heuristic for the 0-1 Multidimensional Knapsack Problem

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2013
We present a new evolutionary algorithm to solve the 0-1 multidimensional knapsack problem. We tackle the problem using duality concept, differently from traditional approaches. Our method is based on Lagrangian relaxation.
