Mediterranean tropical‐like cyclones show a clear seasonality, with September cyclones exhibiting the deepest convection and Ianos representing the most extreme case. While one or more dry intrusions are typically detected during the cyclone life cycle, Ianos instead features two much weaker descending airflows.

A Lagrangian Relaxation View of Linear and Semidefinite Hierarchies [PDF]
We consider the general polynomial optimization problem $P: f^*=\min \{f(x)\,:\,x\in K\}$ where $K$ is a compact basic semi-algebraic set. We first show that the standard Lagrangian relaxation yields a lower bound as close as desired to the global optimum $f^*$, provided that it is applied to a problem $\tilde{P}$ equivalent to $P$, in which ...

ABSTRACT In recent years, transition to renewable energy has emerged as a vital strategy for achieving sustainable development and reducing environmental degradation. Only when backed by a solid institutional and macroeconomic context can economic growth serve as a stimulus for the development of renewable energy.

Lagrangian particle–based simulation of aerosol-dependent vertical variation of cloud microphysics in a laboratory convection cloud chamber [PDF]
We investigate the vertical variability of cloud microphysics in a turbulent convection cloud chamber through large-eddy simulations coupled with a Lagrangian super droplet (SD) model. Numerical experiments mimic the convection chamber under construction

ABSTRACT Power system operation is inherently a sequential decision‐making problem, traditionally addressed through optimisation models built upon high‐quality load forecasts. However, the rapid proliferation of renewable generation and price‐responsive demands, such as electric vehicles and merchant energy storage, has introduced multiple sources of ...

Abstract Correlation‐based rendering techniques continue to advance, and efficiently exploiting correlations between pixel estimates has become increasingly important. The deep combiner framework [BHHM20] allows us to fuse independent and correlated pixel estimates but focuses solely on spatial correlations.

Integrating the production scheduling and delivery problems by vehicle routing approach with heterogeneous flee [PDF]
This paper considers production scheduling and delivery problem together and is trying to integrate both of them. Retailers order includes different types of products that have been processed at a distribution center.

The fault rate in equipment increases significantly along with the service life of the equipment, especially for multiple fault. Typically, the Bayesian theory is used to construct the model of faults, and intelligent algorithm is used to solve the model.

Fluid Control with Localized Spacetime Windows
Abstract We present a physics‐based fluid control method utilizing localized spacetime windows, extending force‐based fluid control to substantially larger simulation scales. In many practical editing scenarios, user‐specified objectives affect only a small region of an otherwise satisfactory simulation, resulting in optimal control force distributions
