CNS Neurons Deposit Laminin α5 to Stabilize Synapses

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Summary: Synapses in the developing brain are structurally dynamic but become stable by early adulthood. We demonstrate here that an α5-subunit-containing laminin stabilizes synapses during this developmental transition.

Tumor Microenvironment-based Gene Signatures Divides Novel Immune and Stromal Subgroup Classification of Lung Adenocarcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Tumor microenvironment has complex effects on tumorigenesis and metastasis. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding of the relationship among molecular and cellular characteristics in tumor microenvironment, clinical prognosis and immunotherpy response.

The alpha 1/beta 1 and alpha 6/beta 1 integrin heterodimers mediate cell attachment to distinct sites on laminin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
This study was undertaken to determine the roles of individual alpha/beta 1 integrin heterodimers in promoting cellular interactions with the different attachment-promoting domains of laminin (LN). To do this, antibodies to the integrin beta 1 subunit or

NC1 Domain of Type VII Collagen Binds to the β3 Chain of Laminin 5 Via a Unique Subdomain Within the Fibronectin-Like Repeats [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Type VII collagen, the major component of anchoring fibrils, consists of a central collagenous triple-helical domain flanked by two noncollagenous, globular domains, NC1 and NC2.

Effects of penicillin and erythromycin on adherence of invasive and noninvasive isolates of Streptococcus pyogenes to laminin

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2015
This study investigated the possible relationship between the invasiveness of group A Streptococcus (GAS) strains and their abilities to adhere to laminin and assessed the effects of subinhibitory concentrations of penicillin and erythromycin on the ...

Molecular mechanisms separating two axonal pathways during embryonic development of the avian optic tectum [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
During embryonic development of the avian optic tectum, retinal and tectobulbar axons form an orthogonal array of nerve processes. Growing axons of both tracts are transiently very closely apposed to each other. Despite this spatial proximity, axons from

Fibronectin and Cyclic Strain Improve Cardiac Progenitor Cell Regenerative Potential In Vitro. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cardiac progenitor cells (CPCs) have rapidly advanced to clinical trials, yet little is known regarding their interaction with the microenvironment. Signaling cues present in the microenvironment change with development and disease.

Interactions of laminin with the amyloid ß peptide: Implications for Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2001
Extensive neuronal cell loss is observed in Alzheimer's disease. Laminin immunoreactivity colocalizes with senile plaques, the characteristic extracellular histopathological lesions of Alzheimer brain, which consist of the amyloid ß (Aß) peptide ...
