Abstract Different planting pattern affects the leaf senescence of maize under intercropping systems, which regulate the grain yield of maize plants. In this study, we observed that a narrow-wide-row planting pattern in maize soybean relay intercropping system (MS) improved the leaf greenness and green leaf area, delayed the leaf senescence process ...

In recent years, there has been increased interest in agricultural production systems in order to achieve high productivity and promote sustainability over time. Hence, an experiment was conducted in order to evaluate the effects of intercropping systems on total yield, land equivalent ratio, and weed control efficiency (WCE). Pure standing of chickpea

SUMMARYThe productivity, land equivalent ratios (LERs) and light use efficiency of a pear and radish interculture system were assessed. Pear yield was unaffected by intercropping. Relative yields for the radish component varied between 0.5–1.01 depending upon the yield index and spatial arrangement employed. This gave LER values for the system of 1.5–2.

Increased crop production (overyielding) often observed in intercrops compared to sole crops has been attributed to enhanced resource use. The objective of this study was to investigate intercropping complementarity of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), canola (Brassica napus L.), and field pea (Pisum arvense L.) for light and water use.

Grain Yields and Land Equivalent Ratios from Intercropping Corn and Soybeans in Minnesota1
Agronomy Journal, 1979AbstractIntercropping, or growing two or more crops simultaneously on the same field, is a farming practice that has recently received attention from agronomic scientists as a means of improving land usage. The objective of this study was to determine whether present‐day corn (Zea mays L.) hybrids intercropped with soybean (Glycine max L.

A field assessment of the actual final land equivalent ratio of a temperate agrofoestry system.
2009The land equivalent ratio (LER) of an agroforestry system (AFS) is a measure of the advantage of mixing species for production. LERs of annual crop mixtures are easy to measure, as each growing season provides an estimate. LERs of perennial AFS are more difficult to measure or predict.

A two-year field investigation (2023–2024) was conducted at the Agronomy Research Farm, G.D. Goenka University, Haryana, to evaluate the effects of integrated and sole organic nutrient management on the phenology, productivity, and land-use efficiency of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) under different intercropping systems. The experiment was laid out in
