Advancing Near‐Real‐Time Flood Inundation Mapping in Australia
Abstract Floods are the second‐most deadly natural hazard in Australia, following heatwaves. Monitoring flood extent and depth in near real‐time (NRT) is crucial to minimize loss of life and socio‐economic impacts. This study leverages advanced computing, data management systems, and high‐quality data, including river gauge data APIs and Australian ...

Forest structure and connectivity drive the functional recovery of seed rain
Local forest structure and landscape‐scale connectivity shape distinct but complementary pathways of the functional recovery of seed rain in tropical forests. Structural complexity promotes functionally diverse plant–frugivore interactions locally, while connectivity facilitates the arrival of late‐successional seeds from external sources.

Detected Shifts Towards Drought‐Adaptive Strategies in the Amazon Forest Over the Last Four Decades
Amazon forests are facing hotter, drier conditions, and we used 40 years of satellite data to look for early signs of ecological change. Combining satellite observations with leaf measurements from more than 3000 trees, we show that many forests now show smaller dry‐season fluctuations in canopy colour—especially in the southern and eastern Amazon ...

Central European forests became hotspots of tree mortality from drought and bark beetles between 2018 and 2020, raising concerns about forest recovery. Based on field surveys from 849 disturbed sites in ten European countries, we found that forests are regenerating quickly, with new trees present on most sites within a few years, especially under warm ...
