A New Lane Change Index for Lane Change Conflicts at Weaving Segments
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022Surrogate safety measures provide information about the safety of traffic facilities without waiting for crashes to occur. Most studies related to surrogate safety measures were performed at intersections. Traffic accident statistics show that sideswipe crashes have a considerable percentage of all crashes.

Effects of lane-change scenarios on lane-change decision and eye movement
Ergonomics, 2023Improper lane-change manoeuvre can cause traffic safety issues and even lead to serious traffic collisions. Quantifying the decision behaviour and eye movements can provide a deeper understanding of lane-change manoeuvre in vehicle interaction environment.

Autonomous lane-change controller
2015 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2015This paper focuses on the design of a model that can be used for high-level decision making and low-level maneuver control, to achieve safe, optimal and stable lane-change maneuvers of autonomous vehicles. The objective of the controller optimized for lane change maneuvers is to minimize the travel time, maintain safety distances between the target ...

Increasing traffic on highways leads to more dangerous situations during lane changes. We propose a system which helps the driver avoiding some of these critical situations. The Highway Lane Change Assistant monitors the area behind and beside the own vehicle by vision and radar sensors.

Understanding the human behaviors in driving is a highly complex topic but on the other hand, extremely important for improving human's driving competence by developing driver assistant systems accordingly and finally accomplishing fully autonomous vehicles and road systems. There are many excellent researches in this area for decades.

Investigating Improper Lane Changes: Driver Performance Contributing to Lane Change Near-Crashes
Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting, 2012We investigated the contributing factors that led to the lane change near-crashes recorded in the 100-Car Naturalistic Driving Study using a case-crossover experimental design. Drivers’ visual behavior and vehicle control were compared across a sample of lane change near-crashes and matched baselines.
