Language Documentation: The Nahuatl Grammar

We describe an on-going documentation project for Nahuatl, an indigenous language of Mexico. While we follow standard recommendations for documenting text corpora and for the dictionary, the usual recommendations are not explicit concerning the grammar.

Document architecture language (DAL) approach to document processing

An intelligent document processing system which can process unconstrained format-free documents is presented. A new document format definition language called Document Architecture Language (DAL) which can handle both rectangular and irregular blocks is presented. Combined with pattern recognition techniques, DAL can be widely used in document analysis

A Document Database Query Language

This work presents a natural language based technique to build user interfaces to query document databases through the web. We call such technique Bounded Natural Language (BNL). Interfaces based on BNL are useful to query document databases containing only structured data, containing only text or containing both of them.

Due to the rapid pace of language loss, it may not be possible to document how children acquire half of the world's indigenous languages in as little as two decades.

I agree with Mssrs Dittmar and Weller that there is a trade-off between medical jargon and vernacular language. All professions develop their own language out of necessity to communicate with colleagues quickly and to protect themselves from outsiders.
