Molecularly Targeted Lanthanide Nanoparticles for Cancer Theranostic Applications

open access: yesNanomaterials
Injectable colloidal solutions of lanthanide oxides (nanoparticles between 10 and 100 nm in size) have demonstrated high biocompatibility and no toxicity when the nanoparticulate units are functionalized with specific biomolecules that molecularly target

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Lanthanide 4f-level location in lanthanide doped and cerium-lanthanide codoped NaLaF4 by photo- and thermoluminescence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2008
Photo- and thermoluminescence (TL) spectra of NaLaF4:Ln3+ (Ln=Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm) and NaLaF4:Ce3+, Ln3+ (Ln=Nd,Sm,Ho,Er,Tm) are presented and used together with the empirical Dorenbos model in order to establish the 4f energy level positions of all tri- and divalent lanthanide ions doped in NaLaF4. The information will be presented in the

A Cu‐Based Near‐IR Active MOF with an Ion‐Pair Guest Exhibiting Versatile and Selective Gas‐Solid Reactivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The new Cu‐containing MOF (Me2NH2)(CuICl2)@[Cu4(INA)4Cl2O]·1.5dmf (3) contains a cation and an anion as guests and shows UV‐near‐mid‐IR absorption and near‐IR emission. MOF 3 shows gas‐solid reactivity in the presence of NH3 and HCOOH to yield two new 3D MOF.

DFTB+and lanthanides [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2010
DFTB+ is a recent general purpose implementation of density-functional based tight binding. One of the early motivators to develop this code was to investigate lanthanide impurities in nitride semiconductors, leading to a series of successful studies into structure and electrical properties of these systems.

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...
