Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Geometry-Based Vehicle-to-Vehicle Channel Modeling for Large-Scale Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2013
Due to the dynamic nature of vehicular traffic and the road surroundings, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) propagation characteristics vary greatly on both small and large scale.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Cryogenic trapped-ion system for large scale quantum simulation [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum Science and Technology, 2018
Trapped-ion systems are among the most promising hardware candidates for large scale quantum computing and quantum simulation. In order to scale up such devices, it is necessary to engineer extreme-high vacuum (XHV) environments to prevent background gas

Two-Dimensional Particle Assembly Based on the Synchronized Evolution of Centrosymmetric Off-Axis Acoustic Vortexes

open access: yesEngineering
Acoustic-vortex (AV) tweezers ensure stable particle trapping at a zero-pressure center, while particle assembly between two vortex cores is still prevented by the high-potential barrier.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Real-time simulation of large-scale HTS systems: multi-scale and homogeneous models using the T–A formulation [PDF]

open access: yesSuperconductors Science and Technology, 2018
The emergence of second-generation high temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes has favored the development of large-scale superconductor systems. The mathematical models capable of estimating electromagnetic quantities in superconductors have evolved ...
