Extra dimensions prefer large tan β

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2001
Assuming that the recent result obtained from the Monte Carlo simulations on the nonperturbative existence of the pure SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in five dimensions can be applied to a more general class of higher-dimensional gauge theories, we derive the conditions imposed by the nontriviality requirement on the theories.

Uncovering quasi-degenerate Kaluza-Klein Electro-Weak gauge bosons with top asymmetries at the LHC

open access: yes, 2013
By exploiting the correlation between charge and spin polarisation asymmetries in t-tbar, we show that combining the two observables could identify the presence of quasi-degenerate states in a resonant signal at the LHC.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Gravity and Large Extra Dimensions

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, 2011
The idea that quantum gravity can be realized at the TeV scale is extremely attractive to theorists and experimentalists alike. This proposal leads to extra spacial dimensions large compared to the Planck scale. Here, we give a very systematic view of the foundations of the theories with large extra dimensions and their physical consequences.

ALTERNATIVES TO THE SEESAW: EXTRA Z'S AND CONSTRAINTS ON LARGE EXTRA DIMENSIONS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2003
Alternatives to the traditional grand unified theory seesaw for neutrino masses are briefly described. These include the possibility of large extra dimensions and various possibilities for models involving an extra U(1)′ gauge symmetry. The difficulty of observing Majorana phases in neutrinoless double beta decay is also briefly commented on.

Traces of Extra Dimensions in Cosmology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this thesis, we discuss the observational consequences of extra dimensions on cosmological phenomena. We begin with an overview of extra dimensions, from the initial ideas of Kaluza and Klein to the more recent concept of braneworld models and in ...

Dynamical generation of fermion mass hierarchy in an extra dimension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a new mechanism to produce a fermion mass hierarchy dynamically in a model with a single generation of fermions. A five-dimensional gauge theory on an interval with point interactions (zero-width branes) takes responsibility for realizing ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Effects of Kaluza-Klein neutrinos on RD and RD⁎

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Recent measurements of RD and RD⁎ by the LHCb collaboration show deviations from their respective Standard Model values. These semileptonic B meson decays, associated with b→cτν¯ transition, are pointing toward new physics beyond the Standard Model via ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
