Effective field theory versus UV-complete model: vector boson scattering as a case study

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
Effective field theories (EFT) are commonly used to parameterize effects of BSM physics in vector boson scattering (VBS). For Wilson coefficients which are large enough to produce presently observable effects, the validity range of the EFT represents ...

Black Hole Production and Large Extra Dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2002
Black hole (BH) production at colliders is possible when the colliding energy is above the Planck scale, which can effectively be at TeV scale in models of large extra dimensions. In this work, we study the production of black holes at colliders and discuss the possible signatures.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Quantum entanglement without nonlocal causation in (3,2)-dimensional spacetime

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
This work aims at exploring whether the nonlocal correlations due to quantum entanglement could exist without nonlocal causation. This is done with the aid of a toy model to investigate whether the ability of two quantum entangled particles to “correlate”

Compactly accessible categories and quantum key distribution [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2008
Compact categories have lately seen renewed interest via applications to quantum physics. Being essentially finite-dimensional, they cannot accomodate (co)limit-based constructions.

Large Extra Dimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The possibility of extra dimensions has been considered for a long time. In the 1920's, Kaluza and Klein sought to unify electromagnetism with gravity by adding an extra dimension that was curled up on the order of the Planck length (10 -35 m.) Then,

Large Star/Rose Extra Dimension with Small Leaves/Petals

open access: yes, 2020
Scenarii with Large Extra Dimensions (LEDs) compactified on a ($q \leq 7$)D torus and with the Standard Model (SM) fields localized on a 3-brane reformulate the gauge hierarchy problem between the 4D Planck scale $\Lambda_P^{(4)} \sim 10^{18}$ GeV and ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Extra Dimensions in Quantum Newtonian Cosmology

open access: yesEncyclopedia
This entry surveys the role of extra dimensions in Newtonian quantum cosmology, with particular emphasis on large, compactified, and warped dimensional geometries and their impact on the Newtonian potential in the early universe.
