Design of large mode area, mode selection fiber
SPIE Proceedings, 2014The paper study on the effect of index distribution on the mode field and calculated the mode distribution in various index profiles. A single mode gaussian hybrid multicore fiber with 19 hexagonally arranged high index quartz rods is designed and investigated. Theoretical and simulative results are presented and compared to the conventional large mode

Mode instabilities in large-mode-area fiber amplifiers
2013 Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics Europe & International Quantum Electronics Conference CLEO EUROPE/IQEC, 2013The onset of mode instabilities is an effect occurring in high-average-power fiber lasers and amplifiers when their output average power exceeds a certain threshold value [1]. This effect is characterized by a sudden change of the output beam from an initially stable fundamental mode to a regime with more or less chaotic fluctuations between the ...

Asymmetric large mode area fibres
2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim (CLEO-PR), 2017Asymmetric core is an alternative approach for mode scalability and better heat dissipation, thus being expected for suppressed mode instability. This talk will present stretched core fibres in aspects of its mode area scalability and mode instability.

2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), 2007
We review the performance and applications of a recently demonstrated platform that utilises higher-order modes in few-moded fibers to facilitate robust, bend-resistant, long-length light-propagation in ultra-large modal areas.

Single-modeness of short large mode area fibers: An experimental study
Optics Communications, 2007Abstract We experimentally investigated the limits to the endlessly single-modeness of large mode area photonic crystal fibers. We analyzed two versions of a commercial large mode area fiber with equal structural parameters but five or seven confining rings, and in both cases we found that the single mode regime becomes critical for short ( 1 m ...

Filamentation analysis in large-mode-area fiber lasers
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2006We drive an analytic expression for filament gain in fiber lasers due to self focusing. The filamentation process has two thresholds that must be met, with beam-quality degradation occurring for peak powers above a megawatt.

Symmetry-Related Large-Area Corner Mode with a Tunable Mode Area and Stable Frequency
Physical Review LettersEmergent collective modes in lattices give birth to many intriguing physical phenomena in condensed matter physics. Among these collective modes, large-area modes typically feature small-level spacings, while a mode with stable frequency tends to be spatially tightly confined.

Polarization-maintaining and single-mode large mode area pixelated Bragg fiber
Optics Letters, 2020This Letter reports on a large mode area pixelated Bragg fiber in which some high refractive index rods were replaced by boron-doped rods that allows polarization maintaining behavior while keeping single-mode behavior. The realized all-solid fiber has a core diameter of 35 µm.

Single-mode large-mode-area Er-Yb fiber
Optical Components and Materials XVI, 2019Single-mode Er-Yb fibers based on phosphorosilicate glass matrix highly doped with fluorine have been fabricated using modified all-gas phase MCVD technology. Fibers have core doped by 6.5 mol.% of P2O5, 0.9 wt.% of F and different concentration of Er and Yb. The core NA was about 0.07-0.08 relative to the pure silica level.

Extra-Large-Mode-Area Few-Mode Laser Fiber
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference 2016, 2016An Yb-doped extra-large-mode-area few-mode laser fiber was fabricated successfully by chelate precursor doping technique. With refractive index difference of 0.0004 and numerical aperture of 0.036, the $25-\mu \text{m}$ -core fiber possesses extra-large-mode-area and few-mode properties.
