All Solid Multistep-Index Core Large Mode Area Single-Mode Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
In this paper, a large-mode-area (LMA) single-mode fiber based on multistep-index core structure is proposed. The multistep-index core increases the mode field area (MFA).

Modelling and Simulation of a Rectangular Large Mode Area Photonic Crystal Fiber [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
This work presents a rectangular large core area (R-LCA) PCF with a cladding diameter of 125 µm, a pitch of 9 µm, and a hole diameter of 8 µm. The guided modes were obtained through numerical simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics.

Design and Analysis of a Large Mode Field Area and Low Bending Loss Multi-Cladding Fiber with Comb-Index Core and Gradient-Refractive Index Ring

open access: yesSensors, 2023
The large mode field area fiber can raise the tolerance of power, and high requirements for the bending characteristics of optical fibers are needed. In this paper, a fiber composed of a comb-index core, gradient-refractive index ring, and multi-cladding

Predicting macrobending loss for large-mode area photonic crystal fibers

open access: yes, 2004
We report on an easy-to-evaluate expression for the prediction of the bend-loss for a large mode area photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with a triangular air-hole lattice. The expression is based on a recently proposed formulation of the V-parameter for a PCF

Delamination resistant composites by interleaving bio-based long-chain polyamide nanofibers through optimal control of fiber diameter and fiber morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this work an innovative electrospinning system is proposed that simultaneously has an adequate temperature resistance, a high increase in mode I (þ51%) and mode II (þ96%) delamination performance and can be commercially produced.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

High-Order Modes Suppression in All-Glass Large-Mode Area Rare-Earth Doped Optical Fibers with Modified Cladding

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
In the present work we have developed and realized a high core-to-cladding diameters ratio active optical fibers operated in a single-mode regime due to specially designed structure containing boron-doped and fluorine-doped rods.

Numerical Aperture of Single-Mode Photonic Crystal Fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We consider the problem of radiation into free space from the end-facet of a single-mode photonic crystal fiber (PCF). We calculate the numerical aperture NA=sin theta from the half-divergence angle theta ~ tan^{-1}(lambda/pi w) with pi w^2 being the ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
