The engineering behaviour of the tropical clay soils of Dhaka, Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This research has evaluated the engineering behaviour of the tropical clay soils of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Attempts have been made to show the relationship of mineralogy and fabric with engineering properties.

Experimental study on self-weight consolidation behavior of hydraulically dredged slurries

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
The large-strain self-weight consolidation theory is widely used for the design of dredged material disposal sites and the treatment of hydraulically dredged slurries in the disposal sites.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Tailings Large Strain Consolidation

open access: yes, 2021
Implemented in GoldSim, TMSim_Consol uses an explicit finite difference method to calculate the void ratio at each time step. Excess pore pressure and effective stress in each layer are then derived from void ratio.

Experimental study on strength and deformation characteristics of gravelly soil core materials

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
For the earth core rockfill dam, the coordination of the strength and deformation of the dam is a key issue that restricts the dam construction. The deformation of the gravelly soil core materials is large, which leads to the transfer of the load to the ...

Evaluation of cement stabilized recycled asphalt pavement/lateritic soil blends for soft soil improvement

open access: yesRock and Soil Mechanics, 2022
This research evaluates the potential of cement stabilized recycled asphalt pavement (RAP)/marginal lateritic soil blends as stone column aggregate instead of the traditional quarry aggregate.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Large consolidation and experimental ageing of cement-based grouts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper describes a study of large consolidation of cement-based grouts. Bleeding (drainage) and efficiency (volume) losses result from reductions in the grouts water content under grouting (injection) pressures and soil compaction.

Numerical Solution of Nonlinear Large Strain Consolidation Based on Non‐Darcian Flow [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2019
In this paper, based on non‐Darcian flow, the governing equation of 1D nonlinear large strain consolidation is established, which comprehensively accounts for vertical strain, soil self‐weight, geometrical nonlinearity, continuity of pore water flow, the relative velocity of the fluid and solid phases, and changing compressibility and hydraulic ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
