Data on laser induced preferential crystal (re)orientation by picosecond laser ablation of zinc in air

open access: yesData in Brief, 2019
Laser ablation of zinc is performed with a 6.7 ps pulsed laser source to investigate the ablation mechanism and resulting morphology of the irradiated surface.

Laser Cavitation Peening and Its Application for Improving the Fatigue Strength of Welded Parts

open access: yesMetals, 2021
During conventional submerged laser peening, the impact force induced by laser ablation is used to produce local plastic deformation pits to enhance metallic material properties, such as fatigue performance.

Femtosecond laser ablation of the stapes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2009
A femtosecond laser, normally used for LASIK eye surgery, is used to perforate cadaveric human stapes. The thermal side effects of bone ablation are measured with a thermocouple in an inner ear model and are found to be within acceptable limits for inner ear surgery.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Clinical Applications of Laser Technology: Laser Balloon Ablation in the Management of Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Catheter-based ablation techniques have a well-established role in atrial fibrillation (AF) management. The prevalence and impact of AF is increasing globally, thus mandating an emphasis on improving ablation techniques through innovation.

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.

The impact of laser ablation on optical soft tissue differentiation for tissue specific laser surgery-an experimental ex vivo study

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2012
Background Optical diffuse reflectance can remotely differentiate various bio tissues. To implement this technique in an optical feedback system to guide laser surgery in a tissue-specific way, the alteration of optical tissue properties by laser ...

Numerical and experimental investigation on pulsed nanosecond laser ablation processing of aluminum alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
The laser ablation of aluminum alloy 6061 was studied both experimentally and by computational modeling in this work. Six variations of the number of pulses of irradiation (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 pulses) combined with four different laser fluence (2.0

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.
