Laser beam profiles in SF6: direct evidence for beam distortion
Chemical Physics Letters, 1981Abstract High-resolution spatial profile measurements of a CO 2 TEA laser beam propagating through SF 6 /Ar mixtures indicate that IR multiple photon absorption measurements averaged over the entire laser beam spatial distribution can be in error by at least a factor of two, implying that accurate measurements require an optically thin sample.

Laser-beam profiles in liquid : direct evidence for self-focusing of a laser beam in
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1999Self-focusing of low-power CW He-Ne laser radiation, at the wavelength of , has been observed in liquid using a simple and effective technique. New experimental results supporting the hypothesis that self-focusing of laser radiation occurs in liquids are presented in this paper.

Beam profile measurement of a solar-pumped iodine laser
Applied Optics, 1986Beam profile measurements have been made as a function of time within the laser pulse and C2F5I pressure. Measurements indicate that the profile is determined directly by the optical excitation volume, produced by the solar simulator, and that media distortion plays a minor role compared to the build up of quenching species during the lasing pulse.
