Fiber Ring Laser-Based Displacement Sensor

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2016
We reported an erbium-doped fiber ring laser (FRL) displacement sensor based on a single-mode fiber (SMF) loop tied into the laser cavity. The proposed fiber loop structure acts as the sensing head as well as the filter of the FRL. A good linear relationship is obtained both in principle and in experiments between the displacement of one end of the ...

Analysis of the Principle of Laser Displacement Sensor and its Application

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
The traditional contact measurement in contemporary industrial technology high speed development situation has been unable to meet the need of measuring field. Laser displacement sensor as a non-contact measurement rookie, because of its various measurements has been widely applied to various measurement.

Integrated micro-laser displacement sensor

Proceedings IEEE The Tenth Annual International Workshop on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. An Investigation of Micro Structures, Sensors, Actuators, Machines and Robots, 2002
A new integrated optical microlaser displacement sensor including a Michelson interferometer was developed and its feasibility as a measurement device was confirmed. It can measure the relative distance traveled against an outside reflective mirror. The measurement resolution is expected to be on the order of 0.01 /spl mu/m.

Laser based smart displacement sensor

SIcon/01. Sensors for Industry Conference. Proceedings of the First ISA/IEEE. Sensors for Industry Conference (Cat. No.01EX459), 2002
The paper presents a displacement measuring system based on one optical emitter (laser diode), two optical sensors and on a smart structure used for sensor data processing. The system is designed around the PIC16F877 8-bit microcontroller that powers the sensors, acquires data from the sensors and performs the intelligent processing based on a neural ...

Measuring leg ulcers using a laser displacement sensor

Physiological Measurement, 1994
A non-contact method for the measurement of a skin ulcer's area and volume has been developed. A commercially available laser displacement sensor is scanned across the ulcer's surface to produce a displacement image. From this image the healthy normal skin's surface is reconstructed and the area and volume found.
