Mid-infrared laser phase-locking to a remote near-infrared frequency reference for high-precision molecular spectroscopy

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We present a method for accurate mid-infrared frequency measurements and stabilization to a near-infrared ultra-stable frequency reference, transmitted with a long-distance fibre link and continuously monitored against state-of-the-art atomic fountain ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Frequency stabilization of diode laser on the wavelength of 5P3/2→5D5/2 of rubidium transition

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The method of frequency stabilization of diode laser on the wavelength of 5P3/2→5D5/2 of rubidium (776 nm) has been realized. The two-photon absorption spectroscopy of the rubidium vapors is underlie of the suggested scheme.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Modulation-free laser stabilization technique using integrated cavity-coupled Mach-Zehnder interferometer

open access: yesNature Communications
Stable lasers play a significant role in precision optical systems where an electro-optic laser frequency stabilization system, such as the Pound-Drever-Hall technique, measures laser frequency and actively stabilizes it by comparing it to a frequency ...

Optical Frequency Comb Generation based on Erbium Fiber Lasers

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2016
Optical frequency combs have revolutionized optical frequency metrology and are being actively investigated in a number of applications outside of pure optical frequency metrology. For reasons of cost, robustness, performance, and flexibility, the erbium

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Laser frequency stabilization and tuning.

open access: yesThe Review of Laser Engineering, 1987
Development and recent progress of laser frquency control of gas, dye, and semiconductor lasers are reviewed. Narrowing of laser spectral width, stabilization of the center frequency and freqency tuning with high frequency stability are described. Ultrahigh frequency stabilties of 3×10-16 for a He-Ne laser and 10-14-10-15 for an Al Ga As laser has been

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.
