Optical fiber sensing based on reflection laser spectroscopy [PDF]
An overview on high-resolution and fast interrogation of optical-fiber sensors relying on laser reflection spectroscopy is given. Fiber Bragg-gratings (FBGs) and FBG resonators built in fibers of different types are used for strain, temperature and ...

Weak-Light Phase-Locking Time Delay Interferometry with Optical Frequency Combs
In the future space-borne gravitational wave (GW) detector, the optical transponder scheme, i.e., the phase-locking scheme, will be utilized so as to maintain the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

The relative intensity noise of a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser with a fiber Bragg grating external cavity [PDF]
The research deals with the topical problem of stabilizing the optical parameters of a single-mode vertical-cavity surfaceemitting laser. A solution to the problem is proposed by forming an external cavity based on a Bragg grating induced into an optical

A comparison between two methods of timing jitter calculation is presented. The integral method utilizes spectral area of the single side-band (SSB) phase noise spectrum to calculate root mean square (rms) timing jitter. In contrast the harmonic analysis

Comparative analysis of the DFB fiber laser and fiber-optic interferometric strain sensors
The DFB fiber laser strain sensor is shown to provide an improvement in the minimum detectable length change by a factor of 275 at 2 kHz for an applied strain when compared with an interferometric sensor interrogated by at equivalent DFB laser.

Linewidth and phase noise characteristics of DFB fibre lasers
The anomalous linewidth behavior in a DFB fiber laser is investigated. It is shown that not only does the linewidth deviate drastically from the Schawlow-Townes linewidth formula by increasing with pump and laser power, but it also varies significantly ...

Application of a liquid crystal spatial light modulator to laser marking [PDF]
Laser marking is demonstrated using a nanosecond (ns) pulse duration laser in combination with a liquid crystal spatial light modulator to generate two-dimensional patterns directly onto thin films and bulk metal surfaces.
