Fourier and Inverse Fourier Transform Model for Delayed Self-interferometry System

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Understanding the effects of laser phase and frequency noise on laser interferometry is significant for evaluating the system performance. To precisely study the performance limit caused by laser frequency noise, here we propose and demonstrate a ...

Clock noise reduction in geometric time delay interferometry combinations

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
Time-delay interferometry (TDI) is a critical data post-processing technique in space-borne laser interferometer gravitational wave detection, which is developed to suppress the overwhelming laser phase noise below the instrumental noise floor by time ...

From ultra-noisy to ultra-stable: Optimization of the optoelectronic laser lock [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Photonics
We demonstrate the direct locking of a 820 kHz linewidth semiconductor distributed feedback laser to a high finesse, compact, and ultrastable reference cavity using the optoelectronic (OEO) laser locking method, resulting in cavity thermal noise-limited ...

Noise investigation of a dual-frequency VECSEL for application to Cesium clocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We theoretically and experimentally study the noise of a class-A dual-frequency vertical external cavity surface emitting laser operating at Cesium clock wavelength.

Phase noise of four-wave mixing in semiconductor lasers [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 1992
A simple theoretical analysis shows that the linewidth of the conjugate wave produced in four-wave mixing in semiconductor lasers is equal to the linewidth of the probe plus four times the linewidth of the pump. Experimental results in good agreement with the theory are presented.

Ultralow Phase Noise Microwave Generation From Mode-Locked Er-Fiber Lasers With Subfemtosecond Integrated Timing Jitter

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
We demonstrate ultralow phase noise 10-GHz microwave signal generation from a free-running mode-locked Er-fiber laser with -142- and -157-dBc/Hz single-sideband absolute phase noise at 10- and 100-kHz offset frequencies, respectively.

Amplitude and phase noise in two-membrane cavity optomechanics

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
Cavity optomechanics is a suitable field to explore quantum effects on macroscopic objects and develop quantum technology applications. A perfect control of the laser noise is required to operate the system in such extreme conditions necessary to reach ...

High Precision Estimation of Laser FM-Noise Using RF Quadrature Demodulation Techniques

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
We report on a technique that uses RF quadrature demodulation to measure laser FM-noise based on a delayed self-heterodyne setup. The measurement is self-referencing and the FM-noise can be measured with high precision over a sufficiently long duration ...

Amplitude-phase decorrelation: a method for reducing intensity noise in semiconductor lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
It has been shown that the method of amplitude-phase decorrelation can reduce the fundamental intensity noise floor of semiconductor laser light over a wide bandwidth by the ratio 1/(1+α^2), where α is the linewidth enhancement factor.
