Argon Laser Intraocular Photocoagulation
Ophthalmology, 1982Argon laser intraocular photocoagulation is now available during vitreous surgery, to treat retinal breaks and to give panretinal photocoagulation. Twenty patients, including phakic patients with gas-filled eyes, were treated using a new operative contact lens without complication.

Argon Laser Photocoagulationby Zweng et al is a rather compact guide for the ophthalmologist who is interested in retinal diseases and their treatments. To begin, the authors present an understandable and informative chapter on the intricacies of laser light production. The various instruments that are now on the market are described.

Applied Optics, 1965
An exciting application of the laser lies in its use in the field of ophthalmology for photocoagulation of retinal and iris tissues. A hand-held ophthalmoscope-laser has been developed which has been used on numerous laboratory animals and recently on several hundred human beings.

Laser Photocoagulation for Gastrointestinal Bleeding
Clinics in Gastroenterology, 1978Endoscopic laser photocoagulation is one of the exciting developments in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopic therapy. However, much work needs to be done before these techniques should be allowed to proliferate into widespread use. There are few controlled randomized clinical studies evaluating any endoscopic treatment of bleeding, including argon

Laser Photocoagulation of the Eye
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1963Introduction Recent advances in energy amplification techniques have culminated in the development of a new light source, the laser (optical maser).1-3The unusually intense, monochromatic beam which characterizes laser emission is of particular interest to the ophthalmologist and may find wide application in the biomedical sciences.4,5 The present ...

Laser Photocoagulation of the Iris
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1970Irides of rabbit, cat, monkey, and human eyes were exposed to ruby laser coagulation in an attempt to produce iridotomies. One monkey iris was exposed to the argon laser. The ability to produce an iridotomy was directly related to the degree of iris pigmentation. There was no observed damage to the corneas, lenses, or retinas of animals exposed.

Oxidative effects of laser photocoagulation
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 1991Diabetic proliferative retinopathy is a common and sight-threatening condition. Oxidative stress is an integral and possibly causative part of the pathogenesis. Although laser photocoagulation is usually a beneficial treatment it remains unclear how it works.

Clinical Studies in Laser Photocoagulation
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1965Introduction Very shortly after the first demonstration of laser action by Maiman in 1960, it was apparent that the laser could be an excellent source for photocoagulation. The characteristics of the laser which are of particular value in photocoagulation are the great energy output in a short time interval, its monochromatic nature, and the narrow ...

Foveal Photocoagulation from Laser Iridotomy
Ophthalmology, 1984Acute and permanent loss of vision has resulted from foveal photocoagulation during argon laser iridotomy. This complication can occur when the laser beam passes through the iridotomy nearly parallel to the visual axis. This is most likely to happen during enlargement of the iridotomy. A retinal burn of the macular region through a peripheral iridotomy
