Laser-Aided Plasma Diagnostics
Fusion Science and Technology, 2004This paper will focus on two types of laser-aided diagnostics: Thomson scattering and laser-induced fluorescence. Thomson scattering is a very powerful diagnostic, which is applied at nearly every magnetic confinement device. Depending on the experimental conditions different plasma parameters can be diagnosed.

INFRARED PLASMA DIAGNOSTICS WITH LASERS
Infrared Physics, 1976Abstract Infrared lasers have rendered possible measurements of plasma parameters in a range not accessible using either optical or microwave techniques. Diagnostic methods based on the refraction and scattering of radiation by free electrons are discussed.

Amplification in recombining plasmas (plasma lasers)
Soviet Physics Uspekhi, 1974A review is given of the investigations of lasers in which the amplifying medium is a rapidly recombining (supercooled in respect to free electrons) dense plasma. Efficient amplification of visible and ultraviolet radiation is possible in a plasma with a free-electron density Ne = 1013-1018 cm-3 and an electron temperature Te=0.05-2 eV.

Laser wakefields in plasmas: Wavebreaking and the resonant laser plasma acceleration
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1995Laser induced wakefields are investigated analytically and numerically. Wavebreaking limits are evaluated. In the case of resonant plasma acceleration wavebreaking restricts the number of useful pulses.

Plasma waves in laser fusion plasmas
Canadian Journal of Physics, 1986This paper presents a review of plasma wave generation in laser-produced plasmas. A general review is given of stimulated scattering phenomena and the use of Thomson scattering techniques to diagnose waves in plasma. Two examples of the application of such methods are given: one is the simultaneous measurement of plasma and ion waves produced by the ...

Polarization of the laser induced plasma lasers
Optics Communications, 2019Abstract We report a systematic study of the generation line polarization of optically pumped Laser Induced Plasma Lasers. Results are presented for the elements of the 13th group with ground state configuration ns np 2 P 1∕2 ; 3∕2 . Degree of polarization depends on pumping light polarization, spin states of ground, and pumped

A recombination laser from cooled hydrogen plasma (plasma dynamic laser)
Physics Letters A, 1976Abstract Using our time-dependent model we calculate the inversion density and gain for a visible line (6563 A) from hydrogen as a result of rapid cooling of a plasma. A visible plasma dynamic laser is shown to be possible under certain conditions.
