Ultra-rapid direct dissociation of CO₂ with dense pulsed plasma jets for Martian oxygen production

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Intense pulsed plasma jets with electron densities of in excess of 10²¹ m⁻³ and temperatures of ∼13 eV were used to dissociate CO₂ under Martian pressure conditions at 1–5 Torr for in-situ oxygen production.

Laser-heater assisted plasma channel formation in capillary discharge waveguides

open access: yes, 2013
A method of creating plasma channels with controllable depth and transverse profile for the guiding of short, high power laser pulses for efficient electron acceleration is proposed.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Determination of plasma screening effects for thermonuclear reactions in laser-generated plasmas

open access: yes, 2017
Due to screening effects, nuclear reactions in astrophysical plasmas may behave differently than in the laboratory. The possibility to determine the magnitude of these screening effects in colliding laser-generated plasmas is investigated theoretically ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Backward scattering of laser plasma interactions from hundreds-of-joules broadband laser on thick target

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
The use of broadband laser technology is a novel approach for inhibiting processes related to laser plasma interactions (LPIs). In this study, several preliminary experiments into broadband-laser-driven LPIs are carried out using a newly established ...

Stretching and Compression of Double Dusty Plasma Vortex

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
The interest in complex plasmas is increasing due to the multiple applications they target (astrophysics, plasma fusion, industry, etc.). A crystal with two vortexes made of spherical microparticles that levitates in an rf plasma interacts with a gas jet.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Grain refinement and mechanical properties for AISI304 stainless steel single-tracks by laser melting deposition: Mathematical modelling versus experimental results

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
Many of the significant mechanical properties of stainless steel, including ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and hardness, the ductile–brittle transition temperature, and susceptibility to environmental embrittlement, can be improved by grain ...

Nonlinear evolution of the plasma beatwave: Compressing the laser beatnotes via electromagnetic cascading

open access: yes, 2005
The near-resonant beatwave excitation of an electron plasma wave (EPW) can be employed for generating the trains of few-femtosecond electromagnetic (EM) pulses in rarefied plasmas.
