Investigation of Laser Plasma Interactions
2021Both short and long pulse laser plasma interactions are investigated by theoreti- cal analysis and modern computational techniques. An extensive set of simulations of short pulse laser plasma based particle accelerators are performed with the aim of improving performance and diagnostics of the accelerators.

Relativistic Laser–Plasma Interaction
2010Sporadically, relativistic energies have been considered already in the foregoing chapters. As the laser flux density in the near infrared and visible long wavelength regime exceeds \(I\simeq 10^{18}\,{\textrm{Wcm}^{-2}}\), the electron quiver energy assumes relativistic values. A brief presentation of basic relativity may be useful here.

Relativistic Laser Plasma Interaction
2001The new technique of Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA) allows to generate laser pulses with focussed intensities far above 1018W/cm2. It has opened a new branch of relativistic plasma physics.1 At intensities beyond 1018W/cm2, now available from table-top systems, the laser pulses self-focus in plasma channels, a few wavelengths in diameter, and ...

Nonlinear laser–plasma interactions
Reviews of Modern Plasma Physics, 2017Soon after lasers were invented, there was tremendous curiosity on the nonlinear phenomena which would result in their interaction with a fully ionized plasma. Apart from the basic interest, it was realized that it could be used for the achievement of nuclear fusion in the laboratory.
