Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) in Tendon Regeneration: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) offers a promising solution by replicating the native tendon microenvironment and promoting regeneration. This review highlights advances in the decellularization methods, as well as their integration with emerging technologies and translational progress in tendon tissue engineering.

Correcting speckle contrast at small speckle size to enhance signal to noise ratio for laser speckle contrast imaging

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
In laser speckle contrast imaging, it was usually suggested that speckle size should exceed two camera pixels to eliminate the spatial averaging effect. In this work, we show the benefit of enhancing signal to noise ratio by correcting the speckle contrast at small speckle size.

Review of laser speckle contrast techniques for visualizing tissue perfusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When a diffuse object is illuminated with coherent laser light, the backscattered light will form an interference pattern on the detector. This pattern of bright and dark areas is called a speckle pattern.

Adaptable Covalent Organic Framework‐Hydrogel Microneedles for Glucose‐Responsive Isoliquiritigenin Delivery in Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a covalent organic framework‐loaded Traditional Chinese Medicine monomer nanodrug delivery system (ISL@bCOF) via boron‐oxygen bonds, a smart response to glucose for delivering AI‐driven isoliquiritigenin (ISL) targeting ZBP1. This dynamic release mechanism, combined with transdermal delivery technology via potent microneedles, can modulate ...

Technical characteristics of laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF), Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging (LSCI) and Tissue Viability Imaging (TiVi).

open access: yes, 2015
LDF: laser Doppler flowmetry, LSCI: laser speckle contrast imaging, TiVi: Tissue Viability Imaging, fps: frames per second.* since LDF measures perfusion in a single-point, the spatial resolution (distance between adjacent measurement points) is not ...

Microsphere‐Templated Conductive Syntactic Foams for Recyclable and Additively Manufactured Soft Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a microsphere‐templated strategy to fabricate reprocessable PEDOT:PSS syntactic foams with tunable porosity, stable conductivity, and 3D printability. In situ PEDOT:PSS coatings create a conductive network that maintains electrical performance at high void fractions.
