Imaging microvascular flow characteristics using laser speckle contrast imaging
2010 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology, 2010Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) has classically been used to image regional blood flow changes in animal models. In this paper, we demonstrate the use of LSCI for elucidating blood flow characteristics in individual microvessels with diameters as small as 24µm. We extracted profiles of speckle contrast values within individual vessels, both along

Speckle-Free Laser Imaging with Random Laser Illumination
Optics and Photonics News, 2012Spatial coherence in imaging has one notorious consequence: speckle. It corrupts images and limits laser use in applications ranging from modern microscopy to digital light projectors to photolithography. Most approaches for eliminating speckle involve time-averaging independent speckle patterns, which limits the imaging speed.

Calibration in laser speckle contrast imaging
Biomedical Optics, 2006We provided a novel calibration procedure in laser speckle contrast imaging that can efficiently compensate systematic errors in speckle contrast caused by speckle/pixel size mismatch and static scatters in the tissue.

Laser speckle imaging of blood flow in microcirculation
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2004Monitoring the spatio-temporal characteristics of microcirculation is crucial for studying the functional activities of biotissue and the mechanism of disease. However, conventional methods used to measure blood flow suffer from limited spatial resolution or the injection of exogenous substances or the need of scanning to obtain the dynamic of regional

A Miniaturized Platform for Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, 2012Imaging the brain in animal models enables scientists to unravel new biological insights. Despite critical advancements in recent years, most laboratory imaging techniques comprise of bulky bench top apparatus that require the imaged animals to be anesthetized and immobilized.

Array velocimeter imaging laser speckle pattern
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1976A noncontact velocity measurement system utilising a solid-state array imaging a moving laser speckle pattern was developed for measuring the velocity of a moving vehicle relative to the terrain it traverses. The electronics and the online minicomputer program together with the laboratory system test results are described.
