A Balanced Dual-Intracavity Dual-Mode Interlocking Method for Fiber Laser Self-Reference Wavelength Stabilization

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
The laser frequency stabilization technology is very important in the development of laser applications, and the improvement of this technology has tend to further expectations for portability and low cost, in addition to the realization of strict ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Solution structure and dynamics of a semiconductor laser subject to feedback from two external filters

open access: yes, 2010
We present an analysis of a semiconductor laser subject to filtered optical feedback from two filtering elements (2FOF). The motivation for this study comes from applications where two filters are used to control and stabilise the laser output.

Stabilization of an AM mode-locked tea CO2 laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
An increased shot-to-shot reproducibility has been obtained by injection of radiation from a cw CO2 laser in an amplitude mode-locked TEA CO2 laser without additional pulse broadening.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Selective Laser Sintering of a Stainless Steel Powder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The research presented in this thesis was part of a larger collaborated project (LastForm Programme) to research engineering solutions for the rapid manufacture of large scale (0.5m – 5.0m in length) low, medium and high temperature tooling (from room ...

Laser power stabilization via radiation pressure

open access: yes, 2021
This Letter reports the experimental realization of a novel, to the best of our knowledge, active power stabilization scheme in which laser power fluctuations are sensed via the radiation pressure driven motion they induce on a movable mirror. The mirror

Soliton stability and interactions in fibre lasers

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1992
The stability conditions for soliton generation in fibre lasers are determined, and it is found that soliton interaction forces are reduced by bandwidth limited gain and fast saturable absorption.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
