Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Late Quaternary hydroclimate and vegetation changes in an upland lake in southeastern Amazonia

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2023
An integrated approach considering facies, isotopic, and palynological analyses of lake sediments from the Serra Norte de Carajás, southeastern Amazonia, is presented in this work to refine paleoclimate and paleohydrological changes based on upland lake ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Holocene Moisture Variations in Western Arid Central Asia Inferred From Loess Records From NE Iran

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
Holocene variations in precipitation in central and eastern arid central Asia (ACA) have been widely investigated, but the pattern in western ACA remains unclear. We present records of the stable carbon isotope composition of bulk organic matter (δ13Corg)

Holocene Monsoonal Variations Over Southern India: Looking Into Its Antecedents

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
A proper understanding of the paleoclimatic variability in the Southern Peninsular India demands a high-resolution paleoclimate reconstruction record. Hence, in this paper, we compiled all the available paleoclimate records from various locations across ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Holocene coastal evolution of Colorado River Delta based on diatom assemblages, Northern Patagonia, Argentina

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2022
Diatom assemblages and coastal sedimentary facies succession in the deltaic plain of the Colorado River (Argentina) were studied in order to reconstruct the environment conditions in response to Holocene eustatic sea-level changes and delta progradation.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Late Pleistocene to Holocene environmental changes from δ13C determinations in soils at Teotihuacan, Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2006
Stable carbon isotopic signature (δ13C) of soil organic matter (SOM) is used as a high-spatial resolution tool to infer environmental changes during late Pleistocene to Present in the Teotihuacan valley, Mexico.

Pollen-Based Holocene Thawing-History of Permafrost in Northern Asia and Its Potential Impacts on Climate Change

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2022
As the recent permafrost thawing of northern Asia proceeds due to anthropogenic climate change, precise and detailed palaeoecological records from past warm periods are essential to anticipate the extent of future permafrost variations.
