Diffusion of Latent Semantic Analysis as a Research Tool: A Social Network Analysis Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) is a relatively new research tool with a wide range of applications in different fields ranging from discourse analysis to cognitive science, from information retrieval to machine learning and so on. In this paper, we chart

Unique circulating miRNAome signatures captured with distinct molecular states in Lynch syndrome and sporadic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNA profiles distinguish nonmalignant Lynch syndrome from cancer‐associated Lynch syndrome, sporadic colorectal cancer, and healthy controls. Age‐stratified analysis reveals disease‐specific regulatory states, and a six‐miRNA panel shows concordant separation in an independent colorectal tissue cohort.

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Advancing single‐species abundance models: Robust models for predicting abundance using co‐occurrence from communities

open access: yesEcosphere
Accurate estimates of abundance are crucial for successful conservation and management. However, gathering abundance data is costly. Species abundance models (SAMs) are increasingly used to predict variation in abundance for resource management for ...

Black Water – Meanings and Ambivalent Representations in Prose

open access: yesPhilologia
The article focuses on the interpretation of water in its dual beneficial and malevolent form in the prose of Romanian writers (V. Voiculescu, M. Eliade, Al. Popescu, R. Găvan, V. Beșleagă) and American writers (C. Oates, J.T. MacGregor). The theoretical

Testing the effectiveness of Lumicyano™ with CYANO-SHOT™ components: A novel HEAT solution

open access: yesForensic Science International: Reports, 2021
Cyanoacrylate fuming is a process by which latent prints are visualized on non-porous surfaces (Yamashita and French, 2011). Following the polymerization of cyanoacrylate molecules on top of a latent print, RAM, a fluorescent dye stain, is applied to ...

The Conditions of Primary Infection Define the Load of Latent Viral Genome in Organs and the Risk of Recurrent Cytomegalovirus Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Recurrence of cytomegalovirus (CMV) from latency is a frequent cause of disease in immunocompromised patients. To date, there is no explanation for the diversity in the clinical manifestations.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...

Epstein‐Barr Virus Transformed B Cells From Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Multiple Sclerosis Patients Differ in EBV Lytic and Latency Marker Expression

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease
Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) is an important environmental risk factor in the development of several autoimmune conditions, with the mechanisms still to be fully elucidated.

White Matter Hyperintensity Burden and Short‐Interval Change Associated With Sleep Apnoea in the UK Biobank

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are a core neuroimaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Sleep apnoea (SA) is a recognized vascular risk factor, but its associations with regional WMH burden, short‐interval WMH change and cognitive performance in population‐based cohorts remain incompletely defined. We
