Abstract The daily food intake of rats with lateral hypothalamic (LH) lesions was monitored in two experiments. Confirming earlier reports, LH-lesioned animals were found to ingest nearly the same amount of food per day as nonlesioned controls even though their body weights remained substantially below those of the controls.
