Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Exclusion and the growth of AI technology: a trade-theoretic analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Dynamics
This study provides a four-good general equilibrium framework with international trade for assessing the impact of the advancement of automation and artificial intelligence (A&AI) on the welfare of a group of agents who are excluded from both owning ...

Good lattice rules based on the general weighted star discrepancy

open access: yes, 2007
We study the problem of constructing rank- lattice rules which have good bounds on the ``weighted star discrepancy''. Here the non-negative weights are general weights rather than the product weights considered in most earlier works.

GAD65 Antibody ELISA With Extended Reportable Range: Validation and Guidance for Neurological Practice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To (1) validate GAD65‐ELISA detection and quantification for type 1 diabetes mellitus and autoimmune neurological diagnoses, (2) correlate ELISA results (reference range < 5 IU/mL) with established radioimmunoprecipitation assay (RIA; ≤ 0.02 nmol/L), and (3) define ELISA clinical utility and pitfalls.

Lattice-Based Group Signature with Message Recovery for Federal Learning

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Federal learning and privacy protection are inseparable. The participants in federated learning need to be the targets of privacy protection. On the other hand, federated learning can also be used as a tool for privacy attacks.

Residuated lattices [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1938
Let \(R\) be any commutative ring with unity, and let \(L\) be the lattice of the ideals of \(R\). It is known that \(L\) is a modular lattice. The authors announce further conditions on \(L\); for example, if \(L\) is complemented, then it is a Boolean algebra -- thus it cannot be a non-trivial projective geometry.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Lattice Quantum ChromoDynamics with approximately chiral fermions

open access: yes, 2008
In this work we present Lattice QCD results obtained by approximately chiral fermions. We use the CI fermions in the quenched approximation to investigate the excited baryon spectrum and to search for the Theta^+ pentaquark on the lattice. Furthermore we

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
