Lack of access to potable water and abating levels of ground water level demands the reuse of unconventional water sources after remediating it in a sustainable way. In this context, purifying brackish, land and sea water seems a feasible solution to the

Layer-by-layer self-assembly of supramolecular and biomolecular films
In this paper, we give a short account on recent studies of layer-by-layer self-assembly of supramolecular and biomolecular films. Such films are built up from layers of macro-ions with opposing charge. A simple film can be obtained by alternating the adsorption of two components: a flexible, synthetic polycation chains and a supramolecular or ...

Calixarene-based amphiphiles : synthesis, self-assembly and interaction with DNA [PDF]
The present doctoral thesis focused on the synthesis of amphiphilic calix[4]arenes, the study of their self-assembly properties at the air-water interface as Langmuir monolayers or in solution as nanoparticles and on the DNA-binding properties of the ...

Layer‐by‐Layer Self‐Assembled Ferrite Multilayer Nanofilms for Microwave Absorption [PDF]
We demonstrate a simple method for fabricating multilayer thin films containing ferrite (Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4) nanoparticles, using layer‐by‐layer (LbL) self‐assembly. These films have microwave absorbing properties for possible radar absorbing and stealth applications.
