Application of layered double hydroxides for 99Tc remediation

open access: yesApplied Clay Science, 2019
Abstract The present study investigates possible use of Layered Double Hydroxides (LDH) for Tc(VII) remediation. Mg/Al– and Mg/Fe–LDH were obtained by a hydrothermal route and thermally activated at 450 °C, which was shown to significantly improve the Tc(VII) removal efficiency. Based on XRD investigation of Tc–LDH phases, the uptake Tc(VII) from the

Co–Fe Prussian Blue Analogue Intercalated into Diamagnetic Mg–Al Layered Double Hydroxides

open access: yes, 2016
A heterostructure of diamagnetic magnesium‒aluminium layered double hydroxides (Mg‒Al LDHs) and photomag‐ netic cobalt‒iron Prussian Blue analogue (Co‒Fe PBA) was designed, synthesized and then designated as LDH‒PB.

Modification of Layered Double Hydroxides Using First-Row Transition Metals for Superior UV-Vis-NIR Absorption and the Influence of the Synthesis Method Used

open access: yes, 2020
Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with high and tailorable UV-Vis-NIR absorption were prepared through transitionmetal (TM) modification. The synthesis method used and amount of TM present were found to influence the UV-Vis-NIR absorption intensity ...

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Magnetic Nanoparticles Stabilized in Layered Double Hydroxides

open access: yesSolid State Phenomena, 2003
The morphological and magnetic properties of nickel nanoparticles have been investigated. The particles were prepared by thermal decomposition in vacuum of a nickel complex [Ni(edta)]2 intercalated into Li/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH). It has been shown that this complex without templating within an LDH matrix gives rise to Ni3C particles of much ...

Abatement of aqueous anionic contaminants by thermo-responsive nanocomposites: (Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide))-co-silylanized Magnesium/Aluminun layered double hydroxides

open access: yes, 2015
A series of novel thermo-responsive composite sorbents, were prepared by free-radical co-polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAm) and the silylanized Mg/Al layered double hydroxides (SiLDHs), named as PNIPAm-co-SiLDHs.

A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.
